Destrehan High School sophomore Jodi Scaffidi recently had the opportunity to visit the set of WWL-TV Channel 4 and meet one of her idols, newscaster Lucy Bustamante.

“My daughter, who is a huge fan of Lucy Bustamante, was invited by the anchor to visit her on set,” said Jamie Scaffidi, Jodi’s mother.

Jodi, who has written fan letters to Bustamante several times, says that one day she would like to become a reporter and news anchor like her idol.

“To our surprise, Lucy invited Jodi to the station to sit in on a news cast,” said Jamie. “She was given a personal tour of the newsroom and was able to sit with Lucy behind the news desk.”

During the actual newscast, Jodi sat behind the cameramen and then went into the production room and watched other WWL employees do the sportscast. She was also able to listen in on the police radio for possible story ideas.
