HAHNVILLE - St. Charles Parish participants will commemorate 2008's National Day of Prayer from noon to 1 p.m. May 1 at the Courthouse at 15045 River Road.
Ceremony coordinator Brenda Chiasson of the West St. Charles Baptist Church in Boutte invites the public to attend.

Chiasson is inviting pastors from area churches to speak about the virtues of prayer. Other guest speakers will include members of law enforcement, EMTs and St. Charles Parish Hospital officials. Parish President V.J. St. Pierre, Jr. will introduce the ceremony with a prayer.
Congress designated the National Day of Prayer in 1952 as a time for all Americans, regardless of faith, to come together and pray in their own way. In 1988 President Ronald Reagan signed a bill calling for the observance every first Thursday of May. The National Day of Prayer Task Force, based in Colorado, organizes many observances around the country.

For more information, please contact Chiasson at (985) 785-0659.
