A man that was wanted by Crimestoppers for two counts of attempted first degree murder, attempted armed robbery and aggravated burglary in Jefferson Parish was arrested in Destrehan on April 6.

According to a Crimestoppers report, 39-year-old Kendell Hawkins was living at 315 Meadows Drive when St. Charles Parish Sheriffs' officers responded to a tip that came in that evening.

"We knew that this person was likely to be armed and dangerous, therefore we felt that the Special Response Team was better equipped to handle this situation," Sheriff Greg Champagne said. "It was important that we removed this person off of our streets as soon as possible."

Hawkins was taken into custody at that address without incident and transported to the Nelson Coleman Correctional Center where he was booked as a fugitive for Jefferson Parish
