St. Rose teen receives recognition for state cheerleading performance

The De La Salle High School Cheerleaders, under the direction of Coach MeLissa "Missy" Kossick, participated in a two-day event in Lafayette, LA, with over 200 other "All-State Spirit Team" members from across Louisiana.

Participants included qualifying cheerleaders, dance teams, and color guards.

The Cavalier stunt group of seniors Lexie Duhon (a St. Rose resident) and Gerald Moorman and juniors Nicole Young and "All-American" flyer Mimi LaFont won an award for Best Stunting Group, and were selected to be the only Freestyle stunting group during the half-time performance at the LHSAA 4-A Basketball Championship on Saturday night.

Additionally, freshmen Brittany Allen and Mimi Arbuckle were part of a small, elite tumbling performance and junior Shelby Franklin danced a pompom Hip Hop routine.

The body discovered on St. Rose Avenue Sunday has been identified as Jorian White, a 16 year-old female of Kenner who was reported missing last week, according to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office.
