Despite Katrina, Rodeo will happen
Yes, the 85th Annual Grand Isle Tarpon Rodeo will happen! Jefferson Parish is currently constructing a facility to hold the rodeo.
The rodeo will take place next door to the Sand Dollar Marina on the eastern side of Grand Isle. Fishing begins at sunrise on Thursday, June 27 with scales closing at 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 29. For more information contact Angela Paccioa at (504) 364-2700.

Richmond, Waters introduce bill to reform flood insurance - 514 views
Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Cedric Richmond (LA-02), along with Congresswoman Maxine Waters (CA-43), introduced The Flood Insurance Implementation Reform Act of 2013. This bipartisan legislation aims to improve the National Flood Insurance Program by ensuring that the implementation of new rates do not burden homeowners or slow the recovery of the nation's housing market.
