Local photographer’s work on display
Most recently, she was chosen as the official photographer to photograph Laura Bush during her visit to the Benjamin Bannaker Elementary School in New Orleans representing the on Nov. 2, 2007.
“Being able to photograph the wife of the President of the United States was the most honorable opportunity I have received thus far in my career,” said Mars.
Mars began her career in 1999 when she opened her studio Reflections. At the time she was only seventeen years old.
Several years later, she was asked by the “Godfather of Photography” Frank Cricchio to assist him in speaking engagements around the country.
Tammy then began teaching photography at the age of twenty-three on the speaking circuit, and continues to this day giving back what she was so blessed to have learned from one of the industries most famous teachers.
After Hurricane Katrina hit, Tammy decided to give her business a complete makeover. She turned her studio into one of the area’s most premier portrait studios. The name was changed from Reflections to Gallery la Roux.
The studio is located at 435 Paul Maillard Rd. in Luling and now offers professional photographic services for mothers-to-be, graduating seniors, executive and commercial businesses, modeling and pageantry, and graphic design.
“I feel that setting goals for Gallery la Roux has been key for my business’ development and growth. I never would have thought I would have accomplished as much as I have by the age of 27,” said Mars.
