St. Germain to teach January workshop

The St. Charles Art Guild is holding a water media workshop called “Acquiring a Sound and Useful Understanding of color on Jan. 14 - 16, 2008 at the First Union Presbyterian Church on Lakewood Dr. in Luling.

The workshop instructor, Diane St. Germain of Slidell, has participated in many shows and has been honored with many awards.

St. Germain’s approach to teaching color theory is to raise the awareness of color temperature - warms and cools - as the key to seeing color and believes that one must see the relationship between colors relative to visual warmth and coldness to best capture the subject on paper or canvas.

Students of the workshop will explore how to get better control over manipulating hues, values and intensities of the colors on their palette.

There will be exercises in exploring how to mix beautiful grays, tints and shadows, and the importance of using complimentary colors will be studied as it relates to intensifying the glow of color or lowering its intensity.

For more information about this workshop, please contact Evelyn W. Dupuy at 985-785-0257 or Carol Fors at 985-764-3528.

This program is supported by a grant from the Louisiana Division of the Arts, Office of Cultural Development, Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism in cooperation with the Louisiana State Arts Council as administered by the Houma Regional Arts Council.
