Floyd Jules Montz, a machinist with Kaiser, passed away on Sunday , October 21, 2007.
A native of Lyons, LA and resident of Destrehan, LA. Age 82. A U.S. Navy Veteran. Survived by: wife, Ada P. Montz for 57 years; 3 daughters and sons-in-law: Susan and Ted Davis, Peggy and Chipper Simon and Joan and Mel Bartholomew; 6 grandchildren: Kelli and husband, Brian Smith, Robbi Simon, Trey Simon, Mel Bartholomew, Jennnifer Bartholomew and Marc Bartholomew; 2 great-grandchildren: Jacob and Romeo; 1 sister, Pearl Madere and 1 brother, Quincy Montz. Preceded in death by: father, Maurice Montz; mother, Virginia Cambre; 2 brothers: Daniel and Elmore Montz; and 3 sisters: Lillian Griffin, Vivian Montz and Yolande Landry. Visitation at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church was on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 from 9 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. Interment Church Cemetery. Arrangements by Alexander Funeral Home.

St. Pierre, along with eight other parish presidents and representatives from five other parishes, visited Washington, D.C. to talk to officials about the potential spike in local flood insurance premiums should large portions of the Biggert-Waters Act be allowed to take effect in October.
