CHAMPAGNE
Elma Mury Champagne, "Maw Maw" ascended peacefully into heaven at the age of 73 on Sunday, July 22, 2007. Elma was born in Reserve and resided in Norco for the past 52 years. Elma is survived by her loving husband, K.J. "Rookie" Champagne and their sons, Mickey and Kenny, his wife Alanea Schexnaydre-Champagne and their children, Abby and Nikki, daughter-in-law, Penny Champagne-Blank, wife of the late Tommy Champagne, and their children, Justine, Bridget and Taylor. Elma is also survived by her sisters, Daisy Meyer, Elsie Youman, Bernice Louviere, Ruth Caster and brother, Andrew Mury. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lucie and Julian Mury, son Tommy Champagne, brother Victor Mury, and sister Eunice Brandt. Elma was a parishonier of Sacred Heard Church and ws active in the Ladies Auxillary Rosary Group, the American Legion Auxillary and the 28th General Hospital Auxillary. Special thanks to all our family and friends, Ochsner Hospital, Family Home Care, Chamika and Lori fand the staff of St. Joseph Hospice for their prayers and kindness during Elma's illness. Visitation was held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 401 Spruce St. in Norco on Wednesday, JUly 25 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial immediately following. Cremation to follow services at Interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Masses preferred or memorial donations to Cancer Association of Greater New ORleans, 504-529-2273. H.C. Alexander Funeral Homes in charge of arrangements.
MILLEREmma Cambre Miller, a lifelong faithful catholic, died on Saturday, July 21, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. in her residence in Norco at the age of 98. A native of Lucy, she was a homemaker and business woman, she was survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Homer Ross Miller, Jr. and Sue Cutrer Miller and Dr. David James "Jim" Miller and Sonia Sevin MIller; 15 grandchildren: Laurie Stockwell, David Miller, Wendell MIller, Derlus Miller, Ronn Miller, Dorsie Sessum, Melinda Berteau, Andrea Miare, Troy Miler, Amy Ulmer, Lindy Schroeder, Ross Miller, Gregory Miller, Maureen Kabel and Maria Orillon; 36 great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and newphews. Preceded in death by her husband Homer Fauet Miller, Sr. ; parents Marieanne Ory Cambre and Anelis "Nin" Cambre; sisters and brothers: Maria Keller, Andre Cambre, Maurice Cambre, Odalle Jeanireau, Eugenie Hotard, Joseph Cambre and Cecile Guillot. Special thanks to her caregivers Earline, Ruby, Kathleen, Wilhelmina and Gaby. Visitation will be June 26 from noon until Mass of Christian Burial at 2 p.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church located at 13396 River Rd. in Destrehan. Entombment will follow in the church mausoleum. Marg. Harry Bugler and Father Terry Hayden will concelebrate the mass. Memorial donations to Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church located at 401 SPruce St. in Norco and St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church would be appreciated by Emma's family. H.C. WARDBetty Delk Ward on July 9, 2007 in Houston, Texas. 50-year resident of Luling. Worked 19 years in St. Charles Parish Planning and Zoning Deptartment building. Hometown of Arkansas. First husband Jack Delk died in 1978. Survived by husband Robert Ward. Daughters Becky Spedden and Diane Johns. Grandchildren Michelle Spedden Pyper, Paula Johns, Alex Johns and Mary Johns. Great-granddaughter Hannah Pyper.
