Senior citizens work up a sweat in COA fitness club
The Council on Aging offers a wide variety of activities for those 60 and up

But that’s not all the organization has to offer. Read on for a list of other activites the COA has on this summer’s itinerary.
• COA Baseball Night - On Monday, Aug. 20 the New Orleans Zephyrs will face off with the Oklahoma Royals at Zephyr Stadium. Tickets are $5 and Logo T-shirts are $9. Transportation is available. Game time is 7 p.m. Call Michelle at 985-783-6683 for ticket and transportation reservations.
•Summer Sunset Sensation - On Friday, July 27 the COA will offer a sizzling steak night to clients at the St. Charles COA Bistro located at 626 Pine St. in Hahnville. The menu includes an 8 oz. steak, baked potato and toppings, seasoned green beans, garlic bread sticks, lemon meringue pie and iced tea. Make your reservation by calling Michelle at 985-783-6683 through July 23 between the hours of 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.
•The Literary Circle of Friends - Every Friday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at 145 Angus Dr. in Luling the COA hosts a weekly workshop for those sharing a common interest in book discussions, creative writing, poetry, oral histories, memoirs, dramatizations and much more. Call Sharyn at 985-785-1981 for lunch reservations and transportation.
• Aquarium Tour - On Monday, August 13 COA clients will go under the sea at the Aquarium of the Americas and the Imax Theater. Make your reservation today - call Michelle at 985-783-6683. Transportation is provided, but tickets and lunch are a personal expense.
•The Big To-Do - The Council on Aging will hold their monthly lunch extravaganza at the Bamboo Garden in Boutte on Wednesday, July 25 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Seating is limited. Call Michelle at 985-783-6683 to make your reservation.
