Parish dancers tap their way to the top with national win

The 4th of July had special fireworks going off for Dance Unlimited of the River Parishes - the group not only received Gold Awards or better at the Masquerade National Dance Competition but also took home the Over All High Score of the Competition.

Taylor Rivera, 5 year old daughter of Taniesha and Miguel Rivera of LaPlace won the High Score with the only High Gold given for this age division.

She performed a jazz routine to "Mambo #5" choreographed by Stephanie Bayhi.

Dance Unlimited brought 7 performers and took home 22 awards. Brianna Becnel, daughter of Ticey and Todd Becnel of Lockport was the National Top Model and Lecy Cazalot, daughter of Duanne and Al Cazalot of Destrehan was named the Special Model Award Winner. Congratulations to the following for a job well done.

Lucas Pick - Photogenic, Platinum Award; Dominique Brogle - Photogenic, Gold Award; Katelyn Carcich - Photogenic, Gold - Sportswear & Formalwear modeling , Gold - Hip Hop, Gold; Kelsea Pritchett - Sportswear & Formalwear modeling, Gold- Tap, Gold; Taylor Rivera - Tap, Gold - Jazz, High Gold and Overall; Brianna Becnel - Jazz, Gold - Sportswear Modeling, Gold and Overall Top Model; Lecy Cazalot - Photogenic, High Gold - Formalwear Modeling, High Gold and "Special" Modeling Award Winner; Hailee Weber - Jazz Solo "Elite" - Platinum Winner,

Brittany Krutzfeldt - Sportwear and Formalwear, Gold - Tap, Gold - Lyrical, Gold.

Dance Unlimited finished the 2007 Preliminary Competition at Star Systems the end of April with a totally dominating performance. They received 12 Over All High Score of the Day Awards and also the Teen Miss Superstar Award. In the Modeling Division - Top Model 12 and Under was Janet Nelson. Top Model 13 and Over was Monique Cannon. In the Solo Category - Top Junior Solo was Jeffrey Keys with a Hip Hop Routine to "Pump It Up". Top Teen Solo was Victoria Pellerin with a Lyrical Solo to "They Weren't There". Top Miss Solo was Magen LeBlanc with a Lyrical Solo to "Leaving on a Jet Plane".

In the Duet/Trio Division: Top 12 & Under Duet went to Angelle Pellerin and EnJolique Boyd with a Jazz Routine to "Wishing and Hoping". Top 13 & Over Duet went to Brittany Krutzfeldt and Monique Cannon for their Jazz Duet to "Take Me or Leave Me".

In Small Group Competition - 12 & Under Over All went to "Old is New Again" featuring Shelby Mitchell, Courtney Carrier, Kaelyn Johnson, Jayme White, Taylor Giarratano, Taylor Rivera, MaCoi Hollins, Madeline Mayeux. 13 & Over Top Small

Group went to "Right Now" featuring Victoria Pellerin, Angelle Pellerin, Hailee Weber, Caitlyn Figueroa, Brianna Becnel, MaQue Hollins, EnJolique Boyd, Ashleigh Keller, Dominique Brogle.

Top Large Group/Line 12 and Under went to "Funk Soul Brother" featuring Allie Mire, Alli Moore, Taylor Ruffin, Gabrielle House, Kristen Trichell, Amanda Draughon, Hailey Draughon, Andrea Matherne, Maya Ruffin, Jenna Bordelon, Lundyn Cantillo, Savannah Loupe. Top Large Group/Line 13 and Over went to "Tune In" featuring Hailee Weber, Ashleigh Keller, Mallory Becnel, Alexis Hampton, Brianna Davis, Julianna Wagner, Krista Reed, Shaina Lin Lewis, Victoria Pellerin, Jessica Brown, Sarah Klibert, MaQue Hollins, Albreian Cornish, Kyra Duhe.

In the Small Group "Elite" Competition - "Wild Horses" received a Platinum Placement and was 2nd Overall High Score of the Day. It featured MaQue Hollins, Ashleigh Keller, Victoria Pellerin, Hailee Weber, Kyra Duhe.

Hailee Weber finished off a very successful competition by being named Teen Miss Superstar with a Platinum Placement for her Lyrical Routine to "Home". High Score Winning Choreographers from Dance Unlimited were Duanne Cazalot, Angie Lehrmann, Stephanie Bayhi, Laurie Falgoust and MaQue Hollins.
