Willie and Glenna Smith of Ama announce the engagement of their daughter, Laci Lois Smith to Beau Thomas Laurent, son of Darla and Mark Hendrix of Raceland and Terry and Melissa Laurent of Des Allemands.
The couple will exchange vows at 7 p.m. on July 7 at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Destrehan.
The future bride is the granddaughter of Myra Nicholas of Waggaman and the late Larry Nicholas and of Willie and Carol Smith of Lacombe and the late Gloria Lois Smith.
The prospective groom is the grandson of Sandra and Herb Theriot of Raceland, and Rose Loupe and Dennis Diehl of Luling and Wirely Laurent of Harvey.
Laci is a 2001 graduate of Hahnville High School and is employed as a receptionist and human resource aide at River Parish Maintenance in Hahnville.
Beau is a 2004 graduate of Hahnville High School and is employed as a firefighter with the Luling Fire Department.Yoes - Hano Engagement
Cynthia Ann Yoes, daughter of the late Henry “Gene” Yoes and Iola Robillard Yoes is engaged to marry William Joseph Hano, son of Elliott and Cheryl Hano of Gretna.
The couple will marry on June 9 at St. Charles Borromeo in Destrehan.
The bride and groom are both employed by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries at the Lyle St. Amant Research Laboratory on Grand Terre, an island off of Grand Isle.

The future bride is employed by Ochsner St. Anne and is a graduate of L.E. Fletcher Technical School where she recieved a diploma in medical billing and coding.

The couple will exchange vows at Boutte Assembly of God Church on May 26.
Pastor Steve Mars will be officiating the ceremony which will be followed with a reception.

Sheriff says DOTD traffic plan will worsen bridge congestion - 1649 views
With road upgrade work on the Hale Boggs Memorial Bridge to begin Sunday, St. Charles Parish Sheriff Greg Champagne chastised the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) for excluding local agencies from providing input in a traffic re-routing plan that could cause substantial additional traffic congestion.
