Army Pvt. Andre Arceneaux has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He is the son of LeRoy Arceneaux of Norco. Arceneaux is a 2005 graduate of Destrehan High School.

River Parishes Hospital is proud to announce its monthly art winners for the month. They are: Peyton Braun, a student at Paulina Elementary School, and Kelsey Curole and Mason Graham, students at Mimosa Park Elementary School.

Each student was awarded a $50 savings bond.

Wayne and Myra Rome of Paradis have been chosen recipients of the Order of St. Louis Medallion presented by the Archdiocese of New Orleans through St. John the Baptist of New Orleans through St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Paradis.

Gaynell Marchand was recognized for 25 years of faithful service to The Arc of St. Charles, Inc. at the annual awards dinner.

Pictured with her are Irvon “Cookie” Gomez, a long time supporter of the Arc, and Victoria Bryant, Executive Director of the Arc.

Several local members of the Daughters of American Revolution attended the state conference in Lafayette.

The Vieux Chapter was represented by Regent Allison Wallis and the chapter's achievement chairman, Jean Marie Cambre.

Also attending from the Vieux Carre Chapter were Patricia Galagher, chapter treasurer and historian; Lora McDaniel; Lea Martin Songy; and Katy Chamberlain.

Gallagher, and McDaniel received second place in scrapbook.
