DHS Sports Week with Nattie Swan
Season update: Destrehan LadyCats Softball beat Central Lafourche, 7-2, Lafayette, 5-3, and Mt. Carmel, 4-1, in the Hahnville Tournament last weekend as well as a district win against West Jefferson ,11-0.
Star player: Julie Beaugh, senior, who has an 11-1 record and 93 strike outs
Sparkplug: Katie Lassere, senior, who had a batting average of .385 over the last five games.
Big play: The ball was caught in right field toward the base line by the 2nd baseman in a hard fought game against Belle Chasse.
“Katie Lassere had one of the most amazing hustle catches that I have ever seen, she completely sacrificed her body for the catch”, said Coach Thompson.
Miscue: Errors, 3 costly errors cost us the game in a battle with Belle Chasse
Need to fix: Errors, right how we a just beating ourselves with errors.
Standings: Overall record: 13-4. District record: 2-1, Second place in district.
Next up: Riverside Double Header, Saturday, March 17 at Thursday, March 22 on the road. Followed by the Destrehan LadyCats Tournament at the East Bank Bridge Park Friday, March 23 and Saturday, March 24.
Star player: Lindsey Peters would be the star of our ensemble.
No matter what, she finds a way to maintain composure and make the best out of every situation.
Sometimes we need that extra push and she is the one that gives it.
Sparkplug: Jeanne Buyatte seems to take everything we write and performs it to the best of her ability and most of the time it is better than what we ask for.
Big play: I would say the whole color guard was part of the big play.
This past week we competed and the girls doubled their score from the performance before than, which covered a huge milestone and also put them in the running for a top five finish at Championships.
Miscue: The biggest miscue seems to be our overall motivation to get the job done.
We work really hard don't get me wrong, but I have yet to see that fire in every ones eyes to really go out there and give it their all.
Waiting on the click from everyone that makes everything work.
Need to fix: We need to be cleaner, the cleaner we are the better our performance score looks, the higher the score the better placement.
We need to be cleaner.
Performance is everything to us we must present a clean and awesome show to stand a chance.
So we have been doing lots of run through to get everything stuck in their minds.
Standings: We currently are looking at 6th place with a strong chance to move up into 4th or 3rd if we can put on a good performance.
The class we are competing this year seems to be very competitive with most of the guard in the same area of score so at this point it is any one's metal to take home.
