Alexandria eliminates Hahnville in quarterfinals
Hahnville made its return to Sulphur for the state softball tournament on Friday, but a juggernaut awaited the Lady Tigers.

Top-seeded and defending Class 5A champion Alexandria trailed 3-2 before scoring 10 runs over the fourth and fifth innings to take control in an eventual 13-3 victory in the Class 5A state quarterfinals.

The game ended in six innings by the 10-run rule.

Taryn Antoine went 2-for-3 with three RBIs for Alexandria. Audrey Good and Briahna Bennett each went 2-for-2 with three runs scored.

Kamryn Keller went 1-for-3 for Hahnville (29-7), driving in two runs. Catherine Friloux was 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Bennett earned the win on the mound for Alexandria, allowing three earned runs on three hits in four innings. Carrie Boswell pitched two hitless, scoreless innings to close the game out.

Alexandria advances to the semifinals to face Central-Baton Rouge, which defeated Sam Houston 6-1 earlier in the day.
