Candlelight vigil being held for slain Destrehan man
A candlelight vigil will be held 8 – 9 p.m. Sunday at East Bank Bridge Park in Destrehan in remembrance of Weston Keller, 25, of Destrehan.

St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies found Keller dead from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest after an argument with suspect 86-year-old Donald Daughdril over money.

Khristina Noland, a school friend of Keller, decided to organize the gathering when she saw the growing response to his death.

“I went to school with him,” Noland said. “He was such a kindhearted person … very outgoing, athletic and always wanting to help.”

Noland said learning of Keller’s death was upsetting, particularly knowing the hardships he endured with losing his mother, longtime volleyball coach Denise Keller, to cancer.

“Everybody is still in shock that anything happened to him,” she said. “He had a hard life, but he overcame everything. He didn’t let anything stop him. He kept moving on.”
