DHS Sports Week with Nattie Swan
Baseball
Star player: Trey Watkins because he is hitting over .600, has scored 16 or 17 rins already, and has stolen 12 bases.
Sparkplug: Renny Weber because he is hitting over .500, playing solid 3rd base, and helping out at catcher.
Strong point: Hitting the ball.
What we need to work on: Pitching, we have plenty of pitchers and no one has stepped up to dominate.
Season update: 5-4
Desty DarlingsStar player: Courtney Harper because she's always happy and ready to help others.
Sparkplug: Autumn Billings because she has improved so much.
Strong point: We're determined and excited about competition.
What we need to work on: Staying focused on the goal of doing our best at competition.
Season update: Competition was on March 10.
Winter DrumlineStar player: Steven Tumblin because he is our top player and he is a very outgoing performer. The thing about indoor drum line is that you have to act to portray the point of your piece to the audience and Tublin does that very well.
Sparkplug: Rachel Nauck because she works really hard.
Strong point: The general effect of our show. During our first few competitions we have scored high in general effect, which is getting the point of the show across to the audience.
What we need work on: We are focusing on performing music better.
Season update: At the regional competition we finished 3rd in finals and 2 in prelims.
Winter GuardStrong point: The guard's ability to adjust to changes
What we need to work on: The lack of focus.
Season update: We did not do as well as we wanted to but we are moving up the ladder.
Boys TennisStar player: Garrett Ryan because he is new to the team this year but he has shown great skill.
Sparkplug: Holden Sycster because he is also new to the team but he has great heart and I believe he will do well.
What we need to work on: The number of boy players on the team.
Season update: 1-1
Girls TennisStar player: Kelly Carlson because she moved up to number one seed this week.
Sparkplug: Valicia Miller because she has good skill.
Strong point: The top six seeded girls are very strong players.
What we need to work on: Consistency
Season update: 1-1
SoftballStar player: Paige Caillouet because she came in to bat as a substitute batter and hit a homerun.
Sparkplug: Desiree Harvey because she is a consistent batter and makes good decisions.
Strong point: Hitting the ball and putting it into play.
What we need to work on: Errors, errors, errors
Season update: 9-3-1
