United Way’s 5K Bridge Run is on
On your mark ... get set ... register for the United Way of St. Charles 5K Bridge Run by calling 985-331-9603 or logging onto www.runnotc.org.
The cost is $20 before April 9 and $25 after. The race starts on April 14 at 8:30 a.m.
You’ll run from the East Bank Bridge Park to the West Bank Bridge Park with activities for the whole family like a rock climbing wall and face painting.
And, yes, it IS a good idea to start training now. If you’re out of shape, ask your doctor. Packet pick-up and registration 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on April 13.
River Region softball club celebrates 25 great yearsThe Pirates Softball Club will hold a 25th anniversary celebration March 2 from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. at the St. John Community Center, 2900 U.S. 51 in LaPlace. Tickets are $15 per person in advance, and $20 at the door. Music will be provided by disc jockey Captain Charles.
Adult football team holds tryouts for men 19-30The Louisiana Razorbacks football team will hold tryouts for men 19-30. The team is an adult amateur minor leaague football team. Hahnville track team hosts Don Raymond track relaysHahnville High School will host the Don Raymond relays March 16 at 3:30 p.m. in Tiger Stadium on Highway 90 in Boutte. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students.
2007-2008 HHS Hi-Stepper tryouts are March 8There will be an informational meeting about Hi-Stepper tryouts for the 2007-2008 school year on March 8 at 6:30 p.m. in the HHS Auditorium.
At the meeting, sponsors will discuss all necessary information regarding paperwork and requirements for tryouts. Those interested in trying out who are unable to attend the meeting should contact Miss Matherne at 985-758-7537. A mandatory instructional workshop is April 16-19 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the gym.

Speed patrols return to I-310 after months-long absence - 1730 views
Over the past four months, those who often travel the elevated portions of I-10 and I-310 in St. Charles Parish have noticed a lack of state troopers on the interstate.
