Here comes the bride ...
AND THE GROOM
Can you think of anything more beautiful than a blushing bride and her grinning groom walking down the asile? I canít.
A coupleís wedding day is supposed to be the happiest day of their lives, one that most girls dream of from childhood.
Yet behind the carefully arranged flowers and three-tiered cakes, lies long road traveled.
The time and energy that goes into making this magical day happen is enormous.
Although I have yet to say ďI do,Ē Iíve stood on the sideline of my friends and family whoíve gotten hitched, and Iíve seen what a huge process planning a wedding can be.
My sister, who is five years my junior, is getting married in December and outlined her wedding with super speed.
The bridal party and groomsmen have been chosen along with the dresses and tuxedos.
The reception hall is booked and the menu and music choices are finalized.
Itís 10 months before the big day and all she really has left to do is send out the invitations.
She started planning her wedding a little over a year in advance, and that seems to be the key to relieving the inevitable - stress.
Usually, the brides to be are the ones in the forefront of wedding planning and that responsibility can become overwhelming.
But my sister has remained cool, calm and collected, creating a trouble-free canvas for the months ahead.
I mean, not everyone can hire a wedding planner to take the brunt of making the arrangements.
My sister is probably not the worldís greatest organizer and Iím sure she wonít receive an award for the best planned wedding.
But she has managed to forge a system that makes things much easier for her by alloting plenty of time and practicing the art of early preparation.
The lesson learned - donít wait until the last minute to begin making plans, and donít wait six months before the wedding ... start planning now.
As my sister would say, youíll be glad you did.
