DHS Teacher of the Year
Joey Brady has been named Destrehan High School’s Teacher of the Year.
No stranger to the classroom, Brady, a science and biology teacher, has shaped the minds of students for 20 years, 11 of them at Destrehan.
"I got this award through a selection process that began with a nomination by my fellow teachers,” he says.
“After the nomination, I turned in a completed application, and then was named the winner by the school selection committee.
"I've always thought of this award to be especially meaningful because of this process.
“It is a privilege for me to represent my school and my peers.
"I guess I have a good personality and get along with everyone.
“I'm not critical. I might criticize but I'm not critical. I accept people for who they are and show respect for all."
Brady works in the science department, teaching mostly biology.
And he is an active and energetic community volunteer.
