Ethel S's Teacher of the Year
- Karen Naquin
Name - Karen Tyler
Town - Destrehan
What she teaches, and how long she has taught - Elementary level students, currently 6th grade reading, English, and spelling; 26 years
Why she teaches - “I enjoy the joys and challenges,” says Tyler.
“I look forward to learning with my children every chance I get. I depend on the laughter, smiles, and hugs I give and receive each day; they are heartwarming. I want to make a difference in one child's life. How awesome would that be?”
“I have been teaching 6th grade for most of my teaching career. I really enjoy this age group because they are experiencing so many changes in their lives during this year. They are growing physically, emotionally, and academically.
“It is remarkable to observe the journey that these children take as they progress through the year. It’s rewarding.
