Monique Matherne of and Meryl “Snake” Dufrene Jr. were married Jan. 26 at St. Hilary of Poitiers Church in Raceland.

The bride is the daughter of Donald “Trapper” and Sandra Matherne of Gheens, and the granddaughter of the late Cleveland and Eula Matherne of Gheens, Leota and the late E.G. Ballard of Grand Isle, and the late Euris and the late Beatrice Matherne of Larose.

The groom is the son of Meryl and Phyllis Dufrene of Des Allemands, and the grandson of Beulah and Gilbert Dufrene of Lockport, and Jeanne and Allen Dufrene of Des Allemands.

The bride is a 1990 graduate of Central Lafourche High School, a 2000 graduate of Nichols State University and is employed by Gulf Offshore Logistics.

The groom is a 1993 graduate of Hahnville High School and is employed by SGS Petroleum Service Corporation.
