Sacred Heart School seventh grader Jimmy Antin is the winner of the geography bee sponsored by the National Geographic Society. Antin will go to regional competition.
Sacred Heart students, Blaire Guidry, 8th grade, and Emma Taylor, 5th grade, are the winners of the school spelling bee. They qualify for city-wide competition.
Hahnville High School band director David Rosenthal has been chosen to conduct the St. Tammany Parish High School Honor Band and the Southwestern Louisiana Band Director’s Association LMEA District III Honor Concert Band.
Holly Savoie has been selected as Teacher of the Year at Mimosa Park Elementary. Savoie has been teaching for 17 years and currently teaches third grade math, science and social studies. She also is a National Board Certified Teacher.

Police dog sniffs out suspected burglar - 1114 views
With the assistance of a K-9 officer, police were able to track down a 23-year-old man who reportedly stole items from a car and broke into a house early Friday morning.
