This week’s BEST BETS, say market officials:

1. Wonderfully scented, all- natural soy candles from Darlene’s Southern Comfort Candles.

2. All-natual soap made from goat's milk ... great for the skin and available in a variety of scents from Nannie’s Goat Soap.

3. Great wines and jellies made from Louisiana grapes from Landry’s Vineyards.

All German Coast farmers will have a good selection of winter crops including broccoli, cauliflower, shallots, brussel sprouts, cabbage, carrots, mustard and collard greens, parsley, beets, radishes, and ripe tomatoes.

The farmer’s market is open on Wednesdays 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Dougie V’s parking lot off of River Road in Luling and on Saturdays 8 a.m. to noon at Ormond Plantation off of River Road in Destrehan.
