This week’s BEST BETS, say market officials:

1. No onion is as sweet as a Vidalia onion, and Gill's Farm has the freshest in market.

2. Get tasty and juicy Louisiana strawberries or chocolate dipped strawberries from Gill's Farm.

3. All German Coast farmers will have a good selection of winter crops including broccoli, cauliflower, shallots, brussel sprouts, cabbage, carrots, mustard and collard greens, parsley, beets, radishes, and ripe tomatoes.

The farmer’s market is open on Wednesdays 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Dougie V’s parking lot off of River Road in Luling and on Saturdays 8 a.m. to noon at Ormond Plantation off of River Road in Destrehan.
