Lady Wildcats lose to East Ascension, but beat Thibodaux in thriller

The Destrehan Lady Wildcats bounced back from a tough 12-1 loss to East Ascension to beat Thibodaux in a thrilling 1-0 game.

East Ascension stormed out to an 8-0 lead over Destrehan in the first two innings and added a pair of runs in the fourth and sixth innings to knock off the Lady Wildcats, 12-1.Destrehan’s only run came in the fourth inning on a single by Alexa Williams that drove in Krista Robles.

Anna Hall led Destrehan from the plate in the loss, going 2-for-3. Amanda McNaughton, Julie Scheuermann, Williams and Robles were the only other Lady Wildcats to record hits in the game.Robles suffered the loss after giving up 12 hits in six innings. However, only two of the 12 East Ascension runs were earned.

Destrehan rebounded from their loss to East Ascension with a big win over Thibodaux. With the game tied at 0-0 heading into the seventh inning, the Lady Wildcats made their move.

Morgan Foret reached on an error to start the frame and then advanced to second on a single by Scheuermann.

Foret stole third a pitch later, setting the stage for an RBI grounder by Bailee Hurm.

After taking the lead, Robles helped the Lady Wildcats hold on to it with a stellar seventh inning.

After forcing the first batter to fly out, Robles recorded two strikeouts to end the game and clinch the win. Robles gave up only two hits in the game while striking out seven in seven innings.

Casey Desentz and Robles both went 2-for-3 from the plate, while McNaughton finished 2-for-4.
