Suspected Boutte rapist captured in Tangipahoa Parish
Used duct tape to bind victim for several hours, police say
Bart A. Bourg
Bart A. Bourg, 55, is accused of raping a woman in his Myrtle Street home in Boutte, according to Sgt. Dwayne LaGrange, spokesman for the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office. The woman, who was a former friend of Bourg, had gone to check on him after hearing that no one had seen Bourg in a few days.
When she arrived, the two got into an argument and Bourg duct taped the woman’s arms and legs together before raping her, LaGrange said.
“He kept her duct taped for several hours before removing the tape and forcing the victim to go to sleep,” LaGrange said. “When she woke up early the next morning, she realized that Bourg had left the residence and she contacted the Sheriff’s Office and filed a report.”
Bourg disappeared after the attack, and authorities believed he was traveling to the Northshore area. He was arrested Tuesday afternoon in Tangipahoa Parish without incident, hours after authorities sent out a release asking the public to be on the lookout for Bourg.
Bourg is charged with forcible rape, false imprisonment and domestic abuse battery.
