Kurt Dempster’s float was named Grand Champion for the 2014 Krewe of Elks of Jefferson Mardi Gras Parade.
After receiving runner-up last year, Des Allemands native Kurt Demspster was determined to win grand champion this year in the Krewe of Elks of Jefferson.

Only two years after Dempster’s float had to be rebuilt following an auto accident, he took home the Grand Champion crown in the 2014 parade with a “Pirates of the Caribbean” theme.

In order to perfect the look of the float, Dempster spent numerous hours constructing the outside of the float with real wood to resemble a ship’s hull.
