Eric and Nena Matherne of Bayou Gauche thought their holidays went off without a hitch until they came home to find their elaborate Christmas display had been trashed.

Vandals caused some $1,800 in damages by slashing life-size inflated characters like the Grinch and Frosty the Snowman , and destroying one-of-a-kind lighted toy soldiers and other wire statues.

Although the Matherne’s are saddened by the event, they have vowed to continue the family tradition - same place next year. - Heather R. Breaux
