Gamblers spent $29 million in parish in last year
Lost $9.5 million in 250 video gaming machines
According to statistics from the Louisiana State Police Gaming Enforcement Division, $28.9 million has gone into the roughly 250 machines in the parish in the last 12 months.
While a lot of money went into the video gaming machines, around 67 percent, or $19.4 million, came back out as winnings.
Each machine took in an average of $115,642 and paid out about $77,527.
The total spent in the last 12 months on video gaming in St. Charles Parish is about $400,000 more than was spent in the 2012 fiscal year.
The net revenue of video gaming machines in the parish was $9.5 million with 27 percent of that going to the state’s general fund as taxes.
The total amount of taxes paid by area vendors to the state in the last 12 months was $2.5 million.
After the tax, each machine has an average profit of $27,824. Most businesses don’t get to keep all of that money though, and must pay a large percentage of the winnings to the vendors that own each video gaming machine.
