ST. ROSE – All ages are invited to learn about whooping cranes and attend an interactive bird beak buffet at the St. Charles Parish East Regional Library on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 2 p.m.

Carrie Salyers of the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries will lead the discussion about the department’s efforts to establish a self-sustaining whooping crane population in Louisiana. Whooping cranes are one of the world’s most endangered cranes.

After the discussion, attendees will use various tools to represent bird beaks of different shapes and sizes to compete for food at a bird beak buffet.

The library is located at 160 W. Campus Dr. in Destrehan. For more information, contact Lauren Pitz at (985) 764-2366 or by email at lauren.pitz@myscpl.org.
