Luling Elementary School was the latest beneficiary of Luling United Methodist Church's Service Saturday outreach efforts, a coordinated program to encourage church members to volunteer with various projects designed to make a difference in the community.

Church members gathered on a recent Saturday and some headed to the school to assist with mulching and cleaning up flower beds, while others remained at the church and baked cookies for the school's 135 teachers and staff.

Volunteers baked over 300 cookies, which were delivered to the school along with notes of appreciation and encouragement colored by the children of the church.
