With the passing game taking a little time to get going, Destrehan turned to junior running back Will Mathews. Mathews responded by rushing for 141 yards and a touchdown.
Lynn Simmons led the Hahnville offense by rushing for 108 yards on 22 carries. Simmons biggest play came when he broke through on a 42-yard run for the Tigers.
Facing a physical Dutchtown offensive line, Wildcat head coach Stephen Robicheaux knew his defense would have to step up. They did so by limiting Dutchtown to only 14 points.
Hahnville cornerback Larry Boyd completely shut out Landry-Walker’s top receiver. HHS coach Lou Valdin said Boyd is one of the best cornerbacks his team has ever had.

The St. Charles Parish School Board unanimously agreed to take bids on site work for the system’s $35 million performing arts center, approved the millage tax collection to pay for it and hired a financial advisor for the bond issue for the project.
