School volunteer awarded at Governor’s Mansion
Melissa "Missie" Pitre was honored at the Governor’s Mansion for being the recipient of the A+PEEL School Volunteer Award.

The Associated Professional Educators of Louisiana (A+PEEL) has sponsored the annual Volunteer Award Ceremony and Reception since 1999. Prior to this event, each volunteer award recipient is first nominated by the school.

Pitre’s nomination was submitted by Norco Primary School teacher Constance Alphonse. Based on certain criteria, that parish selects one individual to represent their parish as Volunteer of the Year. Pitre was honored for making a difference at Norco Primary by her enthusiasm and endless hours assisting the school.
