Hahnville offensive lineman Hunter Perrin has committed to play football for Northwestern State University in Natchitoches.

The 6-foot-3, 285-pound Perrin has been a stalwart on the offensive line for the Tigers since his freshman season. In February, Perrin was chosen as an honorable mention selection on the Football Coaches Association of Louisiana’s Class 5A All-State team.

Perrin, who will be a senior this season, is rated as the No. 43 player in the state, according to LSU sports site DandyDon.com, and drew interest from several large programs across the south.

However Tim Perrin, Hunter’s father, said Northwestern State was the school that recruited his son the hardest.

"Hunter has a really good relationship with Northwestern State coach Jay Thomas," Tim said. "When coach Thomas was at Nicholls State, he noticed Hunter when he was a freshman. Now that he is the head coach at Northwestern, they have been on Hunter hard and they really wanted him."

While most schools recruited Perrin as a center, Thomas says that the Hahnville lineman will be able to play anywhere on the Demons offensive line. Perrin will also get to wear his current high school number (73) in college.
