Arrests (Aug. 8)
•Kip D. Turley, 31, of 356 Ash St. in Boutte, was arrested on July 31 and charged with possession with intent to sell marijuana and resisting an officer.
•Jose Zelaya, 45, of 3220 Hero Drive in Gretna, was arrested on July 27 and charged with DWI, vehicle off public highway, driver not licensed and as a fugitive from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.
•Carey M. Tardo, 60, of 15550 LA Hwy. 16 in French Settlement, was arrested on July 26 and charged with DWI, reckless operation, open container and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
•A laptop computer was stolen from 18 Cathy Drive in Luling on July 31. •Three 55-gallon barrels of oil were stolen from 197 Love Lane in Destrehan on July 30.
•A laptop was stolen out of a vehicle at 500 Willowdale Blvd. in Luling on July 30.
•A laptop was stolen out of a vehicle at 521 Almedia Road in St. Rose on July 30.
•A window air conditioning unit was stolen from 1220 Paul Maillard Road in Luling on July 30.
•Several cell phones were stolen from 13174 Hwy. 90 in Boutte on July 26.
•A laptop was stolen from 22 Plantation Road in Destrehan on July 26.
•A touch screen stereo was stolen out of a vehicle at 12748 LA 48 in Destrehan on July 26.
•An AM/FM with flip screen was stolen out of a vehicle at 12710 River Road in Destrehan on July 26.
•Three guns were stolen from 223 Beau Place Blvd. in Des Allemands on July 26.
•A lawn mower, a battery charger and a saw were stolen from 15733 LA 18 in Hahnville on July 26.
•A wallet containing assorted IDs was stolen out of a vehicle located at 128 Nottoway Drive in Destrehan on July 26.
•Assorted CDs and a CD case were stolen out of a vehicle at 209 Evelyn Drive in Luling on July 27.
•A cell phone and a GPS unit were stolen out of a vehicle at 108 Cortez Lane in Des Allemands on July 27.
•A lawn mower was stolen from 477 Clayton Drive in Norco on July 27.
•A laptop was stolen out of a vehicle at 13001 US 90 in Boutte on July 28.
•A .38 revolver was stolen from 106 Davis Drive in Luling on July 28.
•A trolling motor was stolen from 100 Wanda St. in Luling on July 28.
•A metal safe, gold ring and a wallet were stolen from 1125 LA 52 in Luling on Aug. 1.
•A power blower was stolen from 223 St. Nicholas St. in Luling on Aug. 2.
•Four iPods, a digital camera, a web cam and a New Orleans Hornets jersey were stolen from 230 Pirate Drive in St. Rose on Aug. 2.

When Telesia Batte’s middle child was diagnosed with a learning disability, she chose to move her from the parochial school she loved to a St. Charles Parish public school where greater resources were available to help her. What she did not expect was for her daughter to suffer a sharp drop in math grades.
