Man jumped off of Hale Boggs without any hesitation, witness says
Police are still trying to recover the body of a white male who jumped off of the Hale Boggs Bridge around 11 a.m. on Tuesday.

Sgt. Dwayne LaGrange, a spokesman with the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, said a witness saw a man abruptly pull over his Ford Explorer at the top of the bridge and jump out of the vehicle.

Without any hesitation, the man ran towards the bridge and jumped into the water below.

LaGrange said that officers did find some materials inside the vehicle that would seem to identify the driver, but they are not releasing a name yet.

“We don’t know if it was the victim’s vehicle or if he borrowed the car,” LaGrange said. “We are not releasing a name until we are sure. Right now we are in recovery mode.”
