KILLONA - St. Charles Parish handgun owners will be able to practice their skills at the Sheriff’s Office’s firing range behind the Nelson Coleman Correctional Center on Highway 3127. The range will be open to the public from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 18.

The range is open to handguns only. A mandatory, one-time 30-minute safety briefing will be held at the range starting at 8 a.m.

Shooters must be at least 18 years old. All participants are required to bring valid identification, ammo, safety glasses, hearing protection, a baseball cap, targets, staple gun and staples. All weapons must be unloaded and in a suitable case, such as a gun box or holster, when entering the range. Upon arrival, weapons must be left in your vehicle until the safety briefing and required paperwork is complete and permission has been given by the range officer.
