Hanhville wrestlers win tourney

For the first time in school history, the team walked away with a 1st place team trophy.
Nathan Fremen, Paul Glorioso, Gilberto Mendiola, Levi Gruwell and Brice Jacobs won 5 of 5 matches during the tournament. Ricky Baudoin, Garrett Lirette and Mac Farrell won 4 of 5 matches during the tournament. Also, each wrestler won at least one match during the tournament.
"The team is peaking at the right time," said Mac Farrell. "The team works hard every day and we expect to win each match," said Gilberto Mendiola.
Coach Dan Erwin, who is in his 6th year with the Hahnville wrestling team said, "This is a special team. We are low in numbers this year but, we are high in work ethic. These kids ask for practice to be harder, because they believe that the hard work will pay off in the end."
The district tournament is being held on Friday, February, 10 and the state tournament is being held on February 17-18. The goal of the team is to place in the top eight teams this year.

Police dog sniffs out suspected burglar - 1160 views
