Victim of Hwy. 90 hit-and-run asks for help locating driver
A Luling woman is asking for the public’s help locating a hit-and-run driver who caused an accident when leaving Pier 90 on Thursday night.
Tina Givens had just gotten off of work in Paradis and was making her way down Highway 90 towards Avalon at 8:30 p.m. when she says a driver leaving Pier 90 pulled out of the parking lot into the highway.
Givens says she struck the vehicle in the rear end of the driver’s side and was pushed across the highway into oncoming traffic. Givens’ vehicle eventually came to rest out of harm’s way and she says a bystander pulled over to help.
According to State Police, the helpful bystander talked to the man who pulled out in front of Givens and called police. However, the witness said the man jumped back into his car and drove off before police arrived.
Givens and her brother, who was riding in the passenger seat, both sustained injuries in the crash.
"The front end of my car bent in and the air bags came out," she said. "I broke my hand in the wreck and my brother and I both had cuts from the glass."
Givens said the man was driving a white vehicle that looked like a Dodge Intrepid. She says the vehicle suffered major damage and the driver was between 5-foot-10 and 6-foot-1 and well dressed.
The state trooper on the scene said that he spoke to patrons inside of Pier 90 who were unable to identify the hit-and-run driver.
Anyone with information regarding this accident should call the State Police at (504) 471-2775.
