Police: Montz man choked, beat woman until she blacked out
A Montz man who allegedly choked and beat his children’s mother before barricading her in her home was arrested in Mississippi after fleeing St. Charles Parish.
David Shields, 26, of 394 Evangeline Road, attacked the woman on Feb. 25, according to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office. Authorities say that Shields choked the victim and struck her several times, which caused her to black out. The couple’s young child was in the home at the time of the reported attack.
When the woman came to, she told police that Shields had barricaded her home and would not let her leave. Shields eventually fled the home, but was caught in Mississippi, according to Capt. Pat Yoes, Sheriff’s Office spokesman.
Shields has been charged with second-degree battery, false imprisonment, domestic abuse strangulation, violation of a protective order and domestic abuse – child endangerment.
