Driver sought in hit and run on Hale Boggs

A Destrehan man was hit by a car on the Hale Boggs Bridge while he was trying to retrieve a mattress that had fallen off of his truck and investigators are trying to find the vehicle that hit him, according to Louisiana State Police.

Last Tuesday evening, 37-year-old Greg Boudreaux was transporting a mattress in his 2002 Ford F-250 when it fell out of the truck on top of the Luling bridge. Boudreaux exited I-310 at River Road and turned around in order to retrieve the mattress.

Boudreaux stopped his truck on the right shoulder of the northbound lanes of the bridge and crossed both lanes to the left shoulder of the southbound lanes. While he was waiting for traffic to clear, Boudreaux was struck by a car and received moderate injuries. The car did not stop after hitting Boudreaux, but a left headlight assembly and mirror from the car was located at the scene. Troopers determined that the car that struck Boudreaux was a 2005 Chevrolet Impala.

Anyone with information regarding the Impala is asked to call Troop B at (504) 471-2775. The Impala will have damage to the left front and will also be missing the side mirror on the driver’s side.
