A 23-year-old Boutte woman was arrested and charged with carjacking after police say she attacked another woman on Paul Fredrick Street before driving off in the victim’s car.

Shanique Morgan, of 263 Boutte Estates Drive, approached the vehicle and began punching a Luling woman through an open window while the victim was in the driver’s seat, according to Capt. Pat Yoes, St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman.

Yoes said that the victim was able to free herself from the car and that the two women started fighting each other.

"Morgan then allegedly entered the victim’s vehicle and fled the scene," Yoes said.

The vehicle was located a short time later.

Yoes said the two women have had fights in the past.

Morgan is being charged with theft between $500-$1,500 and carjacking.
