Victoria C. "Vick" Augusta, 72, departed this earthly life on Wednesday, Oct. 24 at St. James Parish Hospital in Lutcher.
Beloved wife of Gene Augusta of Edgard. Loving mother of Victorine Hanson (Barry), Paulette Bornes (David), Patricia Melendez (Kevin), Reginia Augusta and Violet Bornes (Brian). Also survived by seven brothers, two sisters, 13 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Relatives and friends of the family along with pastors, officers and members of Greater New St. Peter Baptist Church, New Jerusalem Baptist Church, From My Heart from Yours, Employees of Hampton Inn of Laplace, Ramada of Luling, Ormond Nursing Care Center of Destrehan, Walmart of Boutte, Comfort Inn and Suites of St. Rose and Chateau St. James were invited to attend the funeral services on Saturday, Nov. 3 at Greater New St. Peter Baptist Church in Edgard. Rev. Vernon Alexander officiated. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Court tosses out 75-year sentence - 988 views
A 43-year-old man who was sentenced to 75 years in jail for molestation of a juvenile and sexual battery will be retried after his sentence was thrown out by an appellate court due to a technicality.
