The St. Charles Parish Department of Economic Development and Tourism received an Excellence in Economic Development Award for its iSCP Smartphone App in the category of New Media for communities with populations of 25,000 - 200,000 from the International Economic Development Council.

"We recognize St. Charles Parish Department of Economic Development and Tourism for creating innovative and successful strategies to promote economic development in this period of global recovery," Jay Moon, IEDC chair, said. "Our awards honor organizations and individuals for their efforts in creating positive change in communities. St. Charles Parish Department of Economic Development and Tourism demonstrates that they are at the forefront of the economic development profession and are using cutting-edge, effective practices that can be replicated in other communities."

The iSCP app provides fingertip access to economic development and tourism data for St. Charles Parish. The app’s "Business Advantages" section highlights the many reasons St. Charles Parish is an ideal location for companies seeking to expand or relocate to the Gulf Coast.

The app also allows businesses and site selectors to access key economic statistics, an interactive map of available properties, information on financial and tax incentives, and statistics on the area’s intermodal transportation network.

The "Tourist Info" section offers users information that explains why St. Charles Parish is a favorite destination among travelers visiting New Orleans and the Gulf Coast. Visitors can use the app to view an interactive map pinpointing the area’s tourist attractions, view a calendar of events, learn about local history, access a listing of area golf courses and learn about the best places to eat and spend the night.

"I encourage all local residents and businesses with smartphones to visit their app-store and download iSCP," Corey Faucheux, Director of Economic Development and Tourism for St. Charles Parish, said.
