Howard J. Falgout, 86, passed away on Friday, Sept. 14 at 3:10 p.m. in Destrehan.
Beloved husband of Geraldine "Gerry" Falgout. Father of Chris M. Falgout and wife Sherry, Paulette F. Parsons and husband Frank, Connie Jean F. Fonseca and husband Stephen, Mary F. Babineaux and husband Wesley, Michele F. Polito and the late Gregory Falgout. Grandfather of Patrice, David, Dane, Monique, Bart, Angel, Joshua, Carol Ann and Megan. Great-grandfather of Dylan, Joseph, Abbygail and Daven. Son of the late Leston and Desiree Falgout. Brother of Amelia Starkovich, Vera Cefalu and the late Clem Falgout, Lawrence Falgout, Frances Laurent, Denise Desmond and Martha Troxler.
He was a native and resident of Hahnville. He was a Seaman First Class U.S. Navy in World War II.
Relatives and friends of the family were invited to attend the funeral. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hahnville on Wednesday, Sept. 19. Interment followed at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Taft.

Superintendent steps down to get down - 712 views
Dr. Rodney Lafon boiled down his decision to announce his retirement last month to a simple factor. With 40 years accumulated in the school system he had come to a point in his career where he would make nearly the same yearly salary as a retiree as if he chose to continue working.
