Triad’s Senior Day
DESTREHAN - The Triad’s Senior Day will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 9 from 9:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Jerusalem Shrine at 1940 Ormond Blvd. in Destrehan.
The event will feature complimentary health screenings, door prizes, informative resources, entertainment and lunch. Flu shots will also be available through St. Charles Community Health Center, which will be free for those with Medicare cards and $15 for those without cards.
Seniors are also asked to bring unused and expired medications for safe disposal.

Court tosses out 75-year sentence - 984 views
A 43-year-old man who was sentenced to 75 years in jail for molestation of a juvenile and sexual battery will be retried after his sentence was thrown out by an appellate court due to a technicality.
