Norco man charged with possession of child pornography

A 21-year-old Norco man, who was arrested for rape in June, is now being charged with the possession of child pornography after police say they found indecent photos on his cell phone.

Michael Doherty, of 253 Clayton Drive, was arrested on June 6 for a parole violation. At that time, authorities seized electronic devices from his home, which included a cell phone.

"During the investigation it was discovered that Doherty had several juvenile pornography photos stored on the devices that were seized," Capt. Pat Yoes, spokesman for the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, said.

Doherty was booked with seven counts of pornography with a juvenile.
