The Luling Volunteer Fire Department recently recognized Buddy Weems for 30 years of service with the department.

Weems received his award his award from Deputy Chief Andrew Metrejean and Chief Craig Petit.

All firefighters receive the special award after thirty years of service and are honored by becoming lifetime members of the department.

"There is not a lot of them because not many of them hang around that long," said Public Relations Officer Audrey Raziano. "So it’s an accomplishment to hang around that long."
