HHS graduates, students put together own bass tournament in Bayou Gauche
A group of Hahnville High School graduates and students hosted their own bass tournament on Sunday.

The eight players who took part in the tournament fished out of Bayou Gauche and had to use artificial lures.

Anglers fished the Lake Salvador area in the Temple, Grosse Point, Bayou Des Allemands, the mouth of the Gheens/Company Canal, the Shortcut Canal, the Fontenot Canal, Baie Des Cabanage, the Gulf Canal, Lake Cataouatche, the Tank Ponds and the Netherlands.

Popular baits were the baby brush hog in junebug and watermelon/red, a white spinner bait, the Bandit 100 series in Tennessee shad, the watermelon/pearl ribbit frog, the Spro frog and the Super Spook Jr.

Winners of the day were Cody Morales and Skylar Mayeaux, who fished together and caught 12 pounds of bass. Hunter McDonald and Ryan Beams finished in second place with 10 pounds of bass.
